Australian regional tourism convention

Hi all, a wonderful place for existing or new agritourism operators to network or learn about the industry is the ARTN’s annual convention. Here’s an excerpt from their website to fill you in if you are interested -:

“Central Australia is delighted to be hosting the 9th annual Australian Regional Tourism Convention. The Convention will be held from the 31st August to the 4th of September 2009 in Alice Springs.

The Australian Regional Tourism Convention (ARTC) was developed as a forum for Regional Tourism Organisations, State Tourism Organisations, Local Government Tourist Offices and regional tourism enterprises to exchange ideas about ways to grow regional tourism sustainably and to promote regional tourism success.

The ARTC is structured as a series of workshops, where speakers present case studies of their experience and delegates participate in targeted discussions to produce tools and applications. The Convention provides an opportunity for the regional tourism industry to share information and knowledge about enterprise and destination development, management and marketing practices and aims to:

1. Provide a forum for the regional tourism industry to discuss current issues

2. Provide an opportunity for the regional tourism industry to share information and knowledge about enterprise and destination development, management and marketing practices

3. Call upon industry to identify gaps in existing knowledge, policy and resources required for a dynamic and sustainable regional tourism industry.”
