Covering an area of 6700 square kilometres, the region is well known for its natural attractions including rivers, lakes, wetlands, woodlands, grasslands, isolated granite outcrops, State and National Parks and nature reserves. From Aboriginal sites to early European settlements to relics of gold rush, there is plenty of history to immerse yourself in.
Typified by broad open irrigated farming fields and dryland farming, our regions land has been successfully diversified into commercial olive crops, aquaculture, salt production, walnuts, green tomatoes and vineyards.
Recreational activities abound, such as bushwalking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, golf or bowls to quieter pursuits including sightseeing, fossicking and browsing the local shops and wineries.
The Loddon Shire has a diverse selection of accommodation to suit all types of visitors ranging from farm stays, bed & breakfasts, motels, caravan parks, self contained units and camping. A selection of eateries are available which include hotels, takeaway foods and coffee lounges. Visitors can always stop by a local hotel to hear a good old fashioned yarn.
The Loddon Tourism area is situated adjacent to the City of Greater Bendigo and is located on 3 major highways, the Loddon Valley, Calder and Wimmera Highways.
The region enjoys vibrant rural communities such as Boort, Bridgewater, Inglewood, Pyramid Hill, Serpentine, Tarnagulla & Wedderburn.
