The Yarra Valley is recognised as one of the world’s great wine growing regions, and Australia’s finest region for pinot noir and sparkling wines.

Over 40 wineries open for cellar door sales and many have excellent restaurants matching local food with wine made on the premises. Under an hour from Melbourne, it is also one of Victoria’s most accessible wine regions and a popular day trip from the city.

The region also has a reputation for excellent local produce, including freshwater salmon and trout, salmon caviar, ice creams, hazelnuts and chestnuts, organically grown fruit, berries and vegetables, handmade cheese, pastas and preserves.
