South West

Tucked away in the bottom corner of WA is an area that offers a unique combination of fine foods and wines along with natural beauty and an abundance of activities. From towering forests to exquisite white sandy beaches there is something for everyone; probably the reason Lonely Planet nominated the area as one of their Top 10 Regions to Visit in 2010.

From Bunbury around to Albany, agritourism operators are plentiful, selling produce and wines at the farm gate/cellar door, while also offering a broad range of accommodation from 5 star to family style. The warm Mediterranean climate is not only inviting but is also fundamental to the production of some of the best wines in Australia and the fertile soil provides a range of delicious fresh produce to take home.

The famous Margaret River region barely needs an introduction; suffice to say it is one of Australia’s best known regions for quality food and wine. The renowned wineries and excellent restaurants are accompanied by the untouched beauty of the forests and beaches and a vibrant artistic community.

Travelling south-east from Margaret River is the equally magnificent area of the Pemberton. Once again, the area is seventh heaven for ‘foodies’ with much farm-gate produce and quality wines for sale. Fishing too is popular in the region, as well as walks around the beautiful forests, waterfalls and rivers. Truffle lovers simply must take a trip to nearby Manjimup where rare black truffles can be found as well as some acclaimed wines and great food experiences.
